Julie Galiñanes, MSW, LCSW hablo español!

Julie (Anne) Galiñanes is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (SW 8592) and a member of the National Association of Social Workers.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Florida International University in 1999. Then in 2001 earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work with a concentration on Services to Elderly and their Families. Julie is an Adjunct Professor at Florida International University and a Qualified Supervisor for Registered Social Worker Interns.

Ms. Galiñanes has worked extensively with the older population and hospice patients.  Julie has provided bereavement counseling to children, adolescents, and adults in the South Florida community for over 15 years. She currently specializes in working with caregivers of persons with chronic illnesses, such as Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s Disease. Julie also provides services to persons experiencing Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, adjustment disorders, marital difficulties, life transitions and every day stressors.

Julie is empathetic, compassionate, and non-judgmental and has the ability to relate to others at their level. She offers a safe environment in which her clients can comfortably express themselves, explore their issues at hand, and learn the coping skills necessary to help them handle their personal situations more effectively.

Julie utilizes an eclectic style to therapy that includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Solution Focused Therapy, and Play Therapy. She also utilizes The Gottman Method for couples and is bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish.
