Her experience working with Preschool to College Students over the past 30 years has helped Michele build a deep understanding of the developmental stages of late childhood/early adolescence (ages 6-12), middle adolescence (ages 12-15), late adolescents (15-18) and young adulthood (after high school/ job transition/college transitional years, 18-25). She has experience working with individuals, families, adolescents, young adults, and parents. Her understanding of each individual child at their given developmental stage will allow her to work with your child to help them grow and build their self-esteem at their current stage of development.
Michele specializes in working with individuals ages 6+ to develop strategies to maximize success in the classroom, at work, and at home. She has experience developing and implementing school accommodation/support plans for learning challenges, ADD, ADHD, executive functioning, anxiety (test, specific, or generalized), school phobia, and social and emotional challenges. Her goal is to help maximize your child’s self-esteem and focus on the areas of development that need the most support. Each child is unique and needs specific strategies to support them. She uses a solution focused approach and provides a safe space to listen and guide students through life transitions (personal, family, or school), and focus on increasing self-esteem through the development of an individualized support plan and development of coping strategies to help a child navigate their challenges and daily life encounters.
She works with parents to provide parental support and strategies to increase students coping skills and parenting strategies. Michele believes in a family approach where a child benefits from the continued support of their caregivers. Research has shown that parental interaction has a great impact on their child’s mindsets. Our actions and language we show our children can help support them through developmental stages and learning or emotional challenges. Children learn through making mistakes and using these as learning opportunities. She can help you develop strategies to support your child using a growth mindset.
Michele has raised 2 amazing children/young adults and has become a stronger professional as she personally learned how to navigate parenting and the challenges at each stage. Life throws some unexpected challenges, but the power of gratitude and the achievement of putting one foot in front of the other has strengthened her counseling skills. As we navigate through life’s obstacles, we build resilience and coping strategies. Michele loves Broadway, Photography, Pilates, and Volunteering and mentoring teens to volunteer. She looks forward to supporting you and your children and helping you find your own personal interests, balance, and coping skills to create a healthy life balance and to help you become your best self.
