Jody Schultz, M.Ed, M.S.
Jody Schultz is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (IMT 3164) and a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. She graduated from the University of Florida receiving both a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1991 and a Master’s Degree in Education in 1992. After taking time off to raise her two children, Jody subsequently earned her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Nova Southeastern University. She is working towards becoming a Certified Sex Therapist through the Modern Sex Therapy Institutes. Jody also completed Level 1 and Level 2 Trainings in Gottman Method Couples.
Her passion for helping others led her initially to a career as a teacher in Broward County, Florida. Working with students and their families gave her a unique perspective about the role of interconnectedness in personal relationships and taught her the importance of self-awareness in creating effective, open and honest communication. It also spurred her interest in pursuing a career in marriage and family therapy with the goal of helping others improve their relationships.
Through her training, Jody recognizes the value in creating a safe, judgment free environment for individuals and couples to express themselves. Jody employs a systemic approach utilizing solution focused narrative theory to help couples navigate their issues and communicate in a healthy manner.
Jody has extensive experience assisting LGBTQ individuals and couples. She has an intimate understanding of issues impacting LGBTQ individuals and strives to provide a safe and comfortable environment where her clients feel accepted and can share their issues without judgment. Jody’s training also includes helping her clients cope with a wide range of issues, such as anxiety, depression, anger, and grief.
Jody understands that self-awareness and effective communication are fundamental to building healthy relationships. Accordingly, Jody works collaboratively with individuals and couples to foster healthy communication helping them overcome negative and destructive relationship patterns and achieve personal growth.
